Meshek is completely orphaned and HIV-negative. He lived with his uncle in a completely undignified „shack.“ Meshek was a wild street kid, who somehow survived with violence and speed. He’s been with us since February/March 2002 and after initial difficulties settled in wonderfully. Meshek is very reliable, helpful and alert.
Since 2012 Meshek and Said have been living away from us. Both of them have their own rooms in the adjoining neighbourhood Mbagala and live there alone. Meshek has finished his training as a car mechanic. In Tanzania graduates are not simply taken on, they have to get practical experience first. Finding a job is extremely difficult. However he has managed get regular unpaid work in a workshop. He has a strong will and wants to marry his long term girlfriend. He and Said often come home at weekends.
Meshek married at the end of 2012 and is now struggling to find a good job. Chances increase with increasing work experience. However it is still difficult. He likes to come over and sometimes proudly brings his wife with him.
Meshek is independent from our support and continues to stop by with us.
Mashaka (Meshek) is visiting us often and helps us in the garden when he has time. He is very responsibly for his small family.
